When this redesign project was first framed, Indeed immediately came into our sight as a popular job seeking website. However, we've constantly heard complaints from its users about not being able to fully utilize the services it provides.
Our goal was to improve the experience using Indeed by integrating its functionality with a clearer and interactive website layout, keeping consistency across different pages, while perserving the wonderful services it offer. In this redesign project, we picked four key pages, including the homepage for job seekers, homepage for employers, search result page, and job detail page.
In order to gain a clearer understanding of how Indeed users evaluate their experience with the website, we conducted surveys to capture the major pain points. This project was the very first redesign project my teammates and I took on, and we did go through a lot of obstacles along the way.
At first, we were really careful about and hesistate to change any of its existing content, even though we thought there's a better way to approach it. As we moved forward, we realized that redesign is not only about redesigning a user friendly interface, but also involves content integration and building a clearer and easier way to navigate through the website. The experience goes far beyond the user interfaces. But there are some guidelines that we must follow, which really makes the product unique. We hope that our redesign of Indeed could reflect some of the user preference with using the site and offer some insights to its current design.
